Flush on the heels of her successful appearances at Club Passim
in Cambridge and the Blackthorne Tavern in Easton, Jeanne
Ciampa will bring her unique blend of folk, rock, country
and urban music to: Johnny D’s in Somerville on April
24, and to the Cambridge House of Blues on May 5.
With her strong stage presence, amazing voice and powerful songs,
Ciampa is well known and loved by audiences throughout New England.
She has been building a devoted audience on both the east and
west coasts for the past decade. She recently released a CD, “Power
of Falling,” showcasing her amazing voice and songwriting
talents. Steadily appearing on stage, she also performed
the title track for the Fox TV movie, “End of Summer” starring
Jacqueline Bisset, and co-wrote songs with Alex Van Bubenheim
for Boyd Music International.
While in the graduate program at Vanderbilt University Divinity
School in Nashville, Ciampa, along with guitarist Griff Peters,
formed the band “Brave Ulysses,” which performed
at local venues and recorded with Eric Pitterelli. Going on to
Los Angeles, where she spent seven years, Ciampa appeared at
virtually every night club in LA, playing with such luminaries
as Wes Wehmiller
of Duran, Duran, Toss Panos of the Steve Vai Band, Bryan Beller
of the Mike Keneally Band, Joe Travers of the Dweezil Zappa Band
and Satnam Ramgotra of the “Boxing Gandhis.” In 1998
she returned to Boston to pursue her solo projects and has been
busy ever since. Several labels are now courting her.
Ciampa’s roots go deep in New England. Born in Revere and
raised in Winthrop, MA, she graduated from Berklee College of
Music in 1992 with a degree in Studio Engineering. The recipient
of the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Scholarship for four consecutive years,
she was chosen as the singer for her commencement ceremony, performing
four songs as the lead in to Bonnie Raitt.
